At Becker Public School District, we recognize the critical importance of addressing the mental health needs of our students. We are committed to providing comprehensive support and resources to ensure the well-being of each and every student. Through our strategic plan, we have outlined key initiatives to address mental health needs, fostering a nurturing environment where students can thrive.
As part of our strategic plan, Becker Public Schools aims to continue addressing mental health needs through Social Emotional Learning (SEL) at various levels. We believe that equipping students with social and emotional skills is essential for their overall well-being and success. By incorporating SEL into our curriculum, we can help students develop resilience, compassion, emotional intelligence, and healthy coping mechanisms.
In addition to our district-led initiatives, Becker Public Schools has established strong partnerships with various organizations and agencies dedicated to supporting students in the area of mental health. Some of our valued partners include Dylan’s Hope Foundation, Greater Minnesota Family Services (GMFS), Lutheran Social Services (LSS), and many more. These partnerships enable us to provide a wide range of resources, counseling services, and interventions to address the diverse mental health needs of our students.
Dylan’s Hope, a local organization committed to promoting mental health awareness and suicide prevention, has been instrumental in helping us raise awareness and provide education on mental health topics as well as related funding. Their support has empowered us to create a compassionate and informed community that values mental well-being.
GMFS and LSS are two additional partners that work closely with our district to provide counseling services and support for students facing mental health challenges. These organizations play a vital role in ensuring that our students receive the necessary care and intervention to overcome obstacles and thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.
At Becker Public School District, our mission is to develop self-directed learners who thrive in a changing global community. To achieve this mission, it is imperative that we prioritize the mental well-being of our students. We believe that a healthy mind is fundamental to academic success and personal growth.
To further support our students, we have implemented the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System (SSARS), empowering students to report any mental health issues they may be aware of. This confidential reporting system provides a safe and secure way for students to share their concerns, ensuring that no student’s mental health needs go unnoticed or unaddressed.
We encourage all members of the Becker Public School District community to familiarize themselves with the mental health support and resources available. Together, we can ensure the well-being of our students, helping them develop into resilient, confident, and successful individuals.
