The Becker 7th-9th grade wrestlers battled hard Monday night and qualified for the MNGWL (Minnesota Ninth-Grade Wrestling League) State Tournament this weekend.
Becker is the second place team for their Region 7 and will head down Saturday to compete at Hastings High School.
“I look forward to seeing a strong representation at the state tournament from our team,” said Coach Dustin Weege.
Weigh-ins are 8-9 a.m. and the wrestling competition begins at 9:30 a.m. Becker is scheduled to see Detroit Lakes in the first round and if they win, they will advance to wrestle Scott West at 11 a.m.
The Becker team is made up of the school’s seventh, eighth, and ninth grade wrestlers and are coached by Weege, Matt Eigen, Matt O’Neill, Matt Aho and Jeff Zimmer.
Team members include:
Seventh Grade: Jacob Jurek, Lukas Paulson, Bennett Edling, Kylen Rish, Caden Dewall, Liam Jenkins, Brayden Weber, Jacob Eich, Dylan Riedinger, Carter Neu, Jonathon Lipinski, Luke Eigen and Dylan Dircks.
Eighth Grade: Egan Nelson, Jake Nelson, Reid Krause, Riley Morrell, John Stangler, Tristin Emholtz, Reid Tripp and Dalton Fouquette.
Ninth Grade: Jacob Berning, Alex Berglund, Kevin Andres, Logan Jurek, Braeden Beutz, Michael James, Lincoln Carlson, Brady Gruenhagen and Connor Eickhoff.
