Becker youth wrestling had a successful weekend of competition last week, advancing as a team to the Northland Youth Wrestling Association (NYWA) state tournament as well as advancing 16 wrestlers to the individual tournament.
March 25, the team competed in the Region 3 tournament in Waconia. The Becker boys beat Waconia 49-26 and Hastings 38-25 to face Wayzata in the finals. They lost to Wayzata 35-26.
The Bulldogs finished second out of 11 teams. They will compete at NYWA state, April 7-8.
The Bulldog wresters also competed individually in area region qualifying tournaments. Those who place first-third qualify for the state individual tournament.
Wrestlers qualifying for the individual state tournament include Elijah Seifert (K, 40-lb, second place); Rylan Kujawa (K, 55-lb, first place); Jacob Williams (1-2, 50-lb, first place); Odin Duncombe (1-2, 54-lb., third place); Blayne Kuschel (1-2, 70-lb., first place); Bennett Kujawa (3-4, 60-lb.,
first place); Nick Kilian (3-4, 55-lb., second place); Isaac Deluge (5-6, 65-lb., first place); Kaden Nicolas (5-6, 75-lb., second place); Cash Stortz (5-6, 80-lb., third place); Owen Angell (5-6, 88-lb., second place); Kaden Rish (5-6, 88-lb., second place); Adam Jurek (7-8, 125-lb., third place); Dylan Weber (7-8, 140-lbs., third place); Mason Doucette (7-8, 105-lb., first place); Ethan Anderson (7-8, 110-lb., first place) and Tyson Ricker (7-8, 120-lb., third place).
Wrestlers who also made the podium at regions and can compete in the state invite (placing 4th-6th at region competition) tournament include Drew May (5-6, 80-lb., fifth place); Tyler Hall (3-4, 64-lb., sixth place) and Bryce Kuschel (7-8, 140-lb., sixth place).
