The Becker youth wrestling team recently qualified for the NYWA State at their region tournament. Additionally, 12 wrestlers qualified individually for the state tournament.
The team lost to Chaska 49-32. They then wrestled back in the bracket defeating Watertown 38-27, Waconia 43-28, and Annandale-Maple Lake 39-36, placing fifth.
Sixth grader Kaden Nicolas took first and Landen Kujawa took third in the fifth-sixth grade. 84-lb bracket. Eighth grader Dylan Weber won his seventh-eighth grade, 160-lb bracket. Eighth grader Ethan Duncomb placed third in the seventh-eighth grade, 100-lb bracket.
Seventh grader Kaden Rish won the seventh-eighth grade, 95-lb bracket. Seventh grader Drew May placed second in the seventh-eighth grade, 90-lb bracket. Eighth grader Tyson Ricker won his seventh-eighth grade, 140-lb bracket. Fourth grader Bennett Kujawa took first and fourth grader Boston Kuschel took second in the third-fourth grade, 68-lb bracket.
First grader Rylan Kujawa won the first-second grade, 65-lb bracket. Sixth grader Owen Angell took third in his fifth-sixth grade, 97-lb bracket. Sixth grader Isaac Deluge took third in the fifth-sixth grade, 75-lb bracket. Third grader Jacob Williams took third in the third-fourth grade, 55-lb bracket.
Kindergartner Parker Trenz took second in the K, 50-lb. bracket. Kindergartner Keelan Weller took third in the K, 40-lb bracket. Third grader Blayne Kuschel took third in the third-fourth, 72-lb bracket.
The following wrestlers placed but did not advance to the state tournament: kindergartner Elijah Seifert took fifth in the K, 45-lb bracket and Odin Duncombe took fourth in the first-second grade, 61-lb bracket.
