Bulldog 7th-8th-9th grade wrestlers did well in their state wrestling league recently in Hastings.

 

The team qualified as a successful team from Region 7 in early January and travelled down to the state team tournament with the 24 top teams from across the state in the single class league.

 

They started against Annandale-Maple Lake, losing 39-30, then rallied to easily beat Eastview, 52-18. Next they went on to face Scott West, where they lost 40-26, which concluded the team dual meet season.

 

Becker had four wrestlers who went 3-0 on the day, Mason Doucette, Adam Jurek, Lukas Paulson and Caden Dewall.

 

The next week, a troupe from the team competed in the Region 7 individual tournament in Milaca. Seven Bulldogs placed. They include Dewall, region champ at 138; Doucette, third; Bennett Edling, 3rd; Ethan Duncomb, Bruce Kuschel, each 5th; Dylan Kolby, sixth. Nolan Muelner, Dylan riedinger, John Lipinski and Ryan Nelson did not place.

 

Dewall went on to the state individual tournament and got to the finals with three wins and capped off the day as the No. 2 138-pound wrestler from the state’s single class league.

 

Ninth graders participating this year included Dyland Riedinger, Bennett Edling, Johnathan Lipinski, Lucas Paulson, Jacob Jurek, Kylen Rish, Caden Dewall, Dylan Dircks, Lakken Braun and Brayden Weber; Eighth graders are Mason Doucette, Ethan Anderson, Isaac Regal, Joseph Goth, Bryce Kushel, Parker Beuning, Ryan Nelson; Seventh graders are Ethan Duncombe, Tyson Ricker, Adam Jurek, Dylan Kolby, Nolan Muellner, Caden Hartkopf and Dylan Weber.
