Yoerg Closes Out Collegiate Career With Nice Run At Nationals

Kaitlyn Yoerg — a 2011 Becker High School graduate — ran in the Cross Country Division II Nationals last Saturday in Louisville, KY.  
 
Yoerg runs for Augustana in Sioux Falls and this race was the final run of her career. She finished as Augie's fourth runner, placing 49th out of 249 runners to help her team place fifth in Nationals. 
 
Her time was 22:14.0.
 
“Kaitlyn has had a great college career and we are so excited and proud of her and the wonderful young woman she is,” said Trish Reimer-Kealy, Becker’s CC coach.
 
Yoerg starred as a CC and track runner as a Bulldog and also played basketball and was on the national honor society. She was a four-year letterwinner; four-time all-conference; three-time state qualifier; earned all-state honors as junior and was twice named the team's MVP.
 
As a freshman at Augustana in 2011, Yoerg placed 27th at NSIC Championship (6K, 22:34.62) on Oct. 22; took 28th place at Briar Cliff Invite (5K, 19:14.67) on Oct. 8; finished 65th at Roy Griak Invite (6K, 24:04.10) on Sept. 24 and placed 23rd at Augustana Twilight (3 mile, 18:21.13) on Sept. 2, running unattached.
 
In 2012, she placed 43rd at the NSIC Championships (6k, 24:26.0); finished 20th at the Dan Huston Invite (6k, 23:16.3); collected a 45th place finish at the SDSU Classic (5k, 20:05.3) and finished 27th at the Augie Twilight with a 3-mile time of 18:29.6.
 
In 2013. Yoerg placed 82nd (22:238.8) at the NCAA Championships on Nov. 23; finished 30th (6k, 22:12.0) at the NCAA Central Region Championships on Nov. 9; earned second team All-NSIC honors, placing 16th (6k, 22:10.1) at the NSIC Championships on Oct. 26; finished 51st (5k, 18:49.2) at the Division I Chile Pepper Invitational on Oct. 5; placed 42nd (6k, 23:39.8) at the Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 28; finished 38th (3m, 17:57.8) at the Augustana Twilight Invitational on Sept. 6 and was named Academic All-NSIC.
 
Yoerg’s major at Augustana is exercise science in which she hopes hurdles her to a career as a physical therapist.
 
Her parents are Dennis and Deb Yoerg of Clear Lake.
