The Becker Bulldogs once again had a successful home meet on Jan. 11, defeating all three schools they were matched against by good margins.
Matched against Mora during the Quad meet, the Bulldogs came out on top 46-27, they won again against Dassel-Cokato 37-27 and beat Delano 40-25.
The wrestlers fought hard during the meet, with three athletes, Logan Jurek, Kylen Rish and Caden Dewall, winning all three of their matches. Many of the other Bulldogs overcame their opponents in two matches during the Quad meet.
At 106 lbs., Kaden Rish was overcome by his first two opponents in decisions (3-0), (3-0), but came back strong in his third match, beating Delano in a decision (3-0).
Although wrestling well, Dylan Riedinger (113 lbs.) was also overcome by two of his opponents, one in a fall at 1:16 and one in a tech fall (5-0). He won his Dassel-Cokato match by forfeit (6-3).
After a long match, Ethan Anderson (120 lbs.) was defeated by his Mora opponent in a decision (3-0), but came back hard, winning his next two matches in decisions (3-0), (3-0).
Mason Doucette (126 lbs.) overcame his Mora opponent in a decision (3-0), but was defeated by his next two opponents in falls.
After a hard fight, Jake Nelson (132 lbs.) defeated his Mora opponent in a fall at 3:52, and took down his Dassel-Cokato opponent in another fall at :39.
Also wrestling at 132 lbs., Adam Jurek beat his Delano opponent in a default (6-0).
In the 138 lbs. division, Lukas Paulson took down his Mora opponent in a fall at 1:09 and his Dassel-Cokato opponent in a decision (3-0), but was overcome in his Delano match in a decision (3-0).
Logan Jurek (145 lbs.) took down his Mora opponent in a quick fall at :34, and won his Delano match with another fall at :55. Wrestling in the 152 lbs. division against Dassel-Cokato, he beat his opponent in a decision (3-0).
At 152 lbs., Alexander Berglund was defeated by his Mora opponent in a decision (3-0), but came back strongly to win his Delano match in a major decision (4-0).
Kylen Rish (160 lbs.) defeated his Mora opponent first by default (6-0) and then through forfeit (6-0). He also won his Dassel-Cokato match in a major decision (4-0), and in the 170 lbs. division took down his Delano opponent in a fall at 3:43.
Also in the 170 lbs. division, Caden Dewall won his match against Mora in a major decision (4-0), as well as his Dassel-Cokato match in a decision (3-0). Wrestling at 182 lbs., he took down his Delano opponent in a fall at 3:05 after a strong fight.
Against Mora in the 182 lbs. division, Lincoln Carlson fought hard but was overcome by a fall at 1:37 and in another fall at :58 in the 195 lbs. division against Dassel-Cokato.
Nicholas Goth (195 lbs.) won his Mora match in a decision (3-0), but was defeated by his Delano opponent by decision (3-0). Wrestling at 220 lbs., Goth overcame his Dassel-Cokato opponent in another decision (3-0).
Brayden Weber (220 lbs.) won against Mora in a forfeit (6-0) but was defeated by his Delano opponent in a decision (3-0). In the 285 lbs. division, he overcame his Dassel-Cokato opponent in a fall at 2:41.
Also wrestling at 285 lbs., Lakken Braun was defeated by his Mora opponent with a fall at 3:07 after a hard fight, as well as his Delano opponent in another fall at :26.
The wrestling team competed at Little Falls on Thursday and Chisago Lakes on Friday, which will be reported on in next week’s Citizen-Tribune. Their next meets are in Hastings on Jan. 19 and back home again on the 24th.
