Matt Aho’s Bulldog wrestlers concluded their regular season dual meet schedule with a convincing win over Albany last Friday afternoon, relying on several wrestlers with major decision victories.
The Bulldogs raced out to a 36-9 edge in the meet after Logan Jurek pinned his opponent, Thomas Blattner, at 1:01. And although the Huskies chipped into the large lead, it was too large, and Becker prevailed, 39-27.
The victory gave the Bulldogs a 10-5 dual meet record and second place in the conference, behind Foley.
“It also was our senior night and we honored four of our seniors,” said Aho. Wrestlers Blake Paulson and Nick Radunz, then also our two senior Managers Ali Zimmer and Megan Dudek.
“It was a great win for us, ending our regular season dual meet schedule.”
Ethan Anderson, 106, got six points the easy way, with a forfeit victory, then Adam Jurek and Lukas Paulson at 113 and 120 registered major decisions; Jurek beating Connor Winkels and Paulson beating Dustin Schmitt, both by 10-2 decisions.
Johnathon Lipinski lost by 8-2 to William Mergen, but then the Bulldogs went on another roll, winning four of their next fivce matches.
Kylen Rish beat Javier Solis by a 10—1 decision, then Kevin Andress pinned Rafael Solis at 1:59 and Becker was flying, 24-3.
Jacob Berning picked up another forfeit victory, then Blake Paulson suffered a pinfall loss at 5:49 to Owen Meyer of Albany.
Jurek got his pinfall win at 160, then Albany registered three straight victories. Connor Eickhoff lost by a 10-4 score at 170, Reid Tripp lost by pinfall at 3:28 to Riley Rakotz, and then Becker lost by forfeit at 195, and the score was 36-24.
Nicholas Goth got Becker’s final points at 220 when he decisioned Carter Fish, 12-5.
Nick Radunz concluded the activities with a 5-3 decision loss to Marvin Stang of Albany.
Section team and individual wrestling tournaments will be held Fridays and Saturdays of the next two weekends.
