The Becker Bulldogs wrestling team continued their winning season after coming out on top of Big Lake 50-18 during their rescheduled dual meet last Saturday.
The win puts the team’s dual record at 20-2 for the season, which ties the all-time school record for wins in a season for Becker Wrestling.
During the meet two wrestlers, Ethan Anderson (113) and Brayden Weber (220) achieved their 50th career wins. Kylen Risk (152) achieved his 50th career win at the Bulldogs Jan. 18 meet in Chisago Lakes.
The Big Lake meet started out back and forth, with Big Lake winning the first match, Becker the second and Big Lake coming back and taking the third match.
Within a couple more matches, however, Becker took over with a winning streak that was only broken once.
Kaden Rish (106) wrestled well, but was taken down in a fall at 1:47. At 113 lbs., Ethan Anderson came back to defeat his opponent in a decision (3-0), followed by another Becker defeat, with Mason Doucette fighting hard by losing in a decision (3-0).
Jake Nelson (126 lbs.) defeated his opponent in another decision for Becker (3-0), followed by Big Lake achieving a win after Adam Jurek (132) was taken down in a fall at 5:14 after a long, hard match.
Becker won the next four matches, with Lukas Paulson (138) starting off the winning streak with a major decision (4-0). Logan Jurek (145) wrestled next, taking down his opponent in a fall at 1:59. Kylen Rish (152) and Caden Dewall (160) also defeated their opponents, Rish with a major decision (4-0) and Dewall with a fall after another long, hard fight (5:30).
In the 170 lbs. weight class, Big Lake won once more, with their wrestler defeating Reid Kraus in a decision (3-0).
The Bulldogs came back strong again however, winning the final four matches of the dual. Lincoln Carlson (182) took down his opponent in a fall at 2:31, Nicholas Goth overcame his opponent in another fall at 1:59, and Brayden Weber and Kolbe Braun both won their matches in forfeits, for a final score of 50-18.

The Bulldogs wrestling team is competing at Sections in Monticello Feb. 16 (today). Their first match is at noon against Albany; the victor of that match will move on to round three to compete against the winner of the Dassel-Cokato vs Litchfield match. The Bulldogs are the second seeded team in Section 6AA.
