Wrestlers Start The New Year Out Strong

The Becker Bulldog wrestling team started the new year out right, taking 3rd place in the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguar tournament last week. Seven Bulldogs were place winners, six made the finals and four came away champions.

Despite missing a couple of their starters, the wrestling team accumulated 141 points, finishing behind No. 2A and No. 4A ranked Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City and Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa.

Bulldogs fighting their way to become champions at the tournament were Lukas Paulson (138) (17-1), Brayden Weber (220) (18-2), Caden Dewall (170) (21-1) and Kyle Rish (160) (15-6). 

Earning 2nd place were Ethan Anderson (126) (18-5) and Adam Jurek (145) (15-5), and earning 4th was Reid Kraus (182) (15-8). 

The Bulldogs also had wrestlers hit exciting career milestones recently. Junior Caden Dewall (170), 60 wins, junior Kylen Rish (160), 75 wins, junior Brayden Weber (220), 75 wins, and sophomore Ethan Anderson (126), 75 wins.

The Bulldog wrestlers competed at home Friday in a quadrangular against Delano, Mora, and North Branch, and Thursday will see them wrestling at Saint Francis High School. Both meets will be covered in next week’s Citizen-Tribune.
