Wrestlers Compete At Delano Invitational

 
In their second meet of the season, the Becker Bulldogs wrestling team fought hard, coming home with eight place winners and three wrestlers making the finals.
 
Twelve schools competed for the title at the Delano Invitational last Saturday, with Becker coming in with a strong 119.5 points. Top winners were the match were Delano with 181.5, Dassel-Cokato with 156.5 and St. Peter with 150.5.
 
Making the finals were Jake Nelson, 1st place 132 lbs., Logan Jurek, 2nd place 152 lbs., and Brayden Weber, 2nd place 220 lbs.
 
Ethan Anderson, 120 lbs. (5-2), received a bye his first round and won his quarterfinal. He lost his next two rounds and came back hard to win his final match by decision. He placed 5th and scored 9.0 points for the Bulldogs.
 
Mason Doucette, 126 lbs. (3-3), received a bye his first round and was defeated in the quarterfinal. He came back again in the next round, but although he continued a strong showing he lost his final round by fall. He scored 3.0 team points.
 
Jake Nelson, 132 lbs. (6-0), received a bye his first round and then succeed in his next three rounds with a fall and two decisions. He placed 1st and scored 22.0 points for his team.
 
Lukas Paulson, 138 lbs., (5-2), received a bye his first round and then went back and forth over the next four rounds, winning two and losing two. He placed 4th and scored the Bulldogs 14.0 points.
 
Adam Jurek, 138 lbs., (2-3), also had a back and forth meet, coming out strong and winning his first match, losing the second, winning the next two (one bye) and seeing defeat with his final two. He placed 6th.
 
Kevin Andres, 145 lbs., (5-2), placed 5th and scored 9 points for the Bulldogs. He received a bye his first round, won the quarterfinal, was defeated in the next two, and came back to win the final round.
 
John Strangler, 152 lbs., (0-2), received two byes and couldn’t quite pull through his other two matches.
 
Scoring 19.5 team points, Logan Jurek (5-1) placed 2nd. Receiving a bye the first round, he fought hard, winning the next two rounds, but was unable to defeat his opponent in the final.
 
Kylen Rish, 160 lbs., (5-2), started out strong, receiving a bye and winning his second match. He wasn’t able to pull through in the semifinal, however, showed his strength with another victory in the next round, but was defeated again in his final match. He placed 4th and scored 14.0 team points.
 
Nick Goth, 195 lbs., (5-2), placed fifth and scored 11.0 points for his team. He received a bye in his first round and then went back and forth in the next four, winning two and losing two. 
 
Brayden Weber, 220 lbs., (5-1), had an exceptionally strong meet, winning all but his final match. He placed 2nd and scored 18 points for the Bulldogs.
 
The wrestling team’s next match will be Friday, Dec. 21 at Becker High School (JV Quadrangle).
