Wrestlers Clinch Conference Title, 7 0

The past week has been an exciting one for the Becker Bulldogs wrestling team. With last Friday’s win over conference foe Cambridge-Isanti, the Bulldogs clinched the Mississippi 8 Wrestling Conference Title, going 7-0. 

The win is only the second time in school wrestling history (since 2003) that the Bulldogs have won the conference.

Tuesday the team finished up their regular season dual schedule by beating both opponents, Rocori and Paynesville, and finishing the season 20-1. The wins represent the third time in Bulldogs wrestling history the team finished with 20 or more dual wins.

Becker won Saturday’s conference meet against Cambridge-Isanti 35-29. Eight Bulldogs won their match; Ethan Anderson (126), Jake Nelson (132), Lukas Paulson (138), Adam Jurek (145), John Stangler (152), Kylen Rish (170), Reid Kraus (182), and Brayden Weber (220).

Eight Bulldogs went 2-0 during Tuesday’s dual against Paynesville and Rocori; Kade Rish, Ethan Duncombe, Ethan Anderson, Lukas Paulson, Tyson Ricker, Kylen Rish, Reid Kraus, and Brayden Weber.

Final scores in the dual were 55-24 against Paynesville and 59-12 against Rocori.

The Becker Bulldogs wrestling team finished out their individual season Friday against Albany, which will be covered in next week’s Citizen-Tribune. Next week begins team sections; the Bulldogs will be wrestling on their home mat Thursday, Friday they’ll be competing in Zimmerman.
