The Becker Bulldogs wrestling team celebrated an incredible season at their recent annual end of the year banquet.
Ending their conference season undefeated, the team clinched the 2020 Mississippi 8 Conference Championship. The win was only the second time in school wrestling history (since 2003) that the Bulldogs have won the conference.
Working their way steadily to the championship, the Bulldogs were taken out by the No. 8AA ranked Dassel-Cokato-Litchfield (DCL); ending their overall dual season with an impressive 22-2 record. The record represents the third time in Bulldogs wrestling history the team finished with 20 or more dual wins.
Six wrestlers earned their way into state individual tournament, Jake Nelson (132) (24-3), Lukas Paulson (138) (34-5), Caden DeWall (170) (36-1), Brayden Weber (220) (34-3), Ethan Anderson (126) (35-9), and Reid Kraus (182) (35-13). Three wrestlers placed; Dewall earned 3rd, Paulson 4th, and Weber 6th.
The team was also awarded the MWCA Academic State Award for achieving a GPA of 3.69.
Individual awards at the banquet were given to All-State winners Paulson, DeWall, and Weber, and All-Conference winners Ethan Anderson, Jake Nelson, Lukas Paulson, Adam Jurek, Kylen Rish, Caden DeWall, Reid Kraus, and Brayden Weber.
All-Conference Honorable Mention was awarded to Ethan Duncombe.
Earning Most Dedicated were Reid Kraus, Caden DeWall, Lukas Paulson, Brayden Weber, Joe Goth, Bryce Kuschel, Isaac Regel, Adam Jurek, Dylan Kolby, Tyson Ricker, Drew May, and Dylan Weber.
Joe Goth was named Most Outstanding JV, and DeWall was named Most Outstanding Varsity.
Most Improved JV was awarded to Ryan Nelson; Most Improved Varsity to Reid Kraus.
Kraus also received the Scholar Athlete Award for his 4.0 GPA, and Dylan Kolby received the Varsity Rookie Award.
