Wrestlers 2nd At Albany Invitational

The Bulldog wrestling team is off to Section 7 tournament action this weekend at St. Cloud Apollo, with the fourth-seeded Bulldogs facing fifth-seeded Annandale-Maple Lake in the first round of action Saturday. The wrestlers are fresh off another solid tournament performance in the season-ending Albany Invitational last weekend, when they finished in second place.
 
Two of the local wrestlers came away with first place finishes - they being Lukas Paulson (120) and Nick Radunz (285). 
 
“It was our last regular season event for the year,” says coach Matt Aho. “I was very proud of how our guys wrestled and finished the season strong.”
 
Becker finished with 159.5 points, behind Hutchinson’s 208. Following Becker were Kimball, 154; Albany, 146; New London-Spicer 127.5; Apollo, 101.5; and Mora, 51.
 
Ethan Anderson (106) finished third with a 3.52 pinfall win over Zach Schiefelbein, Kimball;  Adam Jurek (113) finished third with an 8-6 decision of Trevor Schroeder, Apollo. Paulson got his title with an 8-3 win over Dustin Schmitt, Albany; Kylen Kish (126) finished second with a 16-1 loss to Brock Luthens of Hutchinson in the title match;
 
Delan Weber lost a third place match to Javier Solis, Albany; Kevin Andres (138) finished second with a 2-1 loss to Payton Schiefelbein, Kimball in the title match; Jacob Berning, also at 138,
won third with a 1:01 pinfall of Jesse Reiner, Hutchinson; Blake Paulson finished fourth at 145 with a 4-3 decision defeat from Cal Luthens of Hutchinson. 
 
Alex Berglund, same weight, finished fifth with a 5-4 win over Peyton Linn, Albany; Logan Jurek (152), finished second with a 9-2 title match loss to Jordan Stenzel, Hutchinson; Connor Eickoff finished fifth at 160 with a win over Braeden Beutz, also of Becker; Lincoln Carlson (170) finished fifth with a :35 pinfall win over Kaden Zanoth, Hutchinson.
 
Finally, Radunz got his title with an 11-6 decision over Marvin Stang, Albany.
 
Paulson (26-7) and Radunz (23-6) remain the team leaders with most individual victories.
