Winter Sports Teams Gearing Up For 2014 15 Season

As the fall sports scene around Becker comes to a close, the high school winter sports teams have just started prepping for the upcoming season with practices at the high, intermediate and middle schools.
 
The Becker wrestling team was hard at work in the wrestling room, with Coach Matt Aho and his assistants teaching and coaching the younger wrestlers as they await the arrival of many of their varsity grapplers who are still participating in football up until the end of this week.
 
Their first Granite Ridge Conference meet is on the calendar for Dec. 4 at Mora.
 
The varsity gymnastics team is gearing up for the start of their season which starts Dec. 2 at home in their new gym room, converted from the old swimming and diving room. They’re coached by Jen Harmoning.
 
The girls basketball team is priming for their season opener Dec. 4 at home against Delano. Head Coach Paul Lindsay and Assistant Coach Scott Gudmundson had the girls running through drills to better their ball handling skills this past week.
 
The boys basketball team will be heading into their second full season under young Head Coach Josh Ihrke who took over for Regan Anderson last year. The boys have been using the middle school gym to get ready for their season slated to begin Dec. 4 at Princeton.
 
The Dazzlers Dance team practices constantly in the Intermediate School as they look to elevate their dance skills and techniques to bring their level of competition up to the standards of the better squads in the state. Head Coach Laura Anderson and Assistants Julie Baloun and Nadia Fischer-Danielson are hard at work fine tuning the girl’s routines for their first meet on the road at Albany High School Dec. 11.
