This year’s Becker Boys Cross Country team has been working hard to get ready for this season’s competition.
The head coach for this year is Dustin Weege, who has been coaching the boys’ team for nine years in various roles. Starting his first year as a Becker cross country coach is Wade Moravec. Moravec coached the Becker boys lacrosse team for the past two years, so he’s ready to hit the ground running.
Last year was the team’s first time receiving conference champs and section champs awards. Last year they finished in seventh place in the state with the hopes of improving this up-and-coming year.
Captains for this season include Parker Spindler (12th grade), Alex Swanson (12th grade), Evan Hubbard (12th Grade), and Aiden Jacobs (12th grade).
Returning runners also include Tanner Felton (12th grade), Brandt Hemmelgarn (12th grade), Holden Hubbard (10th grade), Mason Tschida (12th grade), and Weston Denne (11th grade).
The team’s main goal this year is to grow as “good men” as they run with perseverance.
“This is a special group of guys here and I’m looking forward to journeying together with them along with Coach Moravec,” said Coach Weege.
