Volleyball Team Splits Two Games

The Becker Bulldogs  volleyball team fought two hard matches this week, one against Monticello Tuesday and the other against Mora Thursday.  
 
Both matches went to a fifth set, but the Bulldogs were unable to pull out a win versus the Magic.  
 
Becker 3, Monticello 2
Becker had a big night defensively Tuesday, notching 12 blocks throughout the match.  Middle player Payton Anderson had an especially good night as she recorded four single stuff blocks and had numerous assists.  
 
Leah Andersen also had a good night defensively with 14 digs.  
 
Becker’s setters — Sydney Bordson and Bailee Thorson — had a busy night with 97 assist attempts and four digs apiece.  
 
Outside hitters — Jessica Gruber and Lexa Hosier — had a combined 54 attacks throughout the match, keeping Monticello's defense on their toes.  
 
Mora 3, Becker 2
Thursday, the Bulldogs played a tough match against Mora, winning the first two sets handily and seemingly rolling to an easy win. 
 
However, in the third game, the Mustangs pulled out a close win in overtime by two points.
 
The momentum had turned towards Mora's direction and they won the next two sets to take the match.  
 
Becker Head Coach Greg Lynch said his team “is already looking forward to a rematch later this season!”
 
Up Next
The Bulldogs host an eight-team tournament this weekend featuring teams from Eden Valley-Watkins, Minneapolis Washburn, Nevis, Royalton, PACT, West Lutheran and Robbinsdale Cooper.
 
Tuesday, they travel to Milaca and Thursday they host Zimmerman.
