Volleyball Team Goes 1 1

Coach Greg Lynch got his first varsity win Thursday as the Becker Bulldog volleyball team went 1-1 this week to start the season.
 
Becker 3, Big Lake 2
The Bulldogs traveled to Big Lake Thursday and came away with their first win of the season, three sets to two on the Hornets’ home court.
 
The match was closely contested as Becker rolled to a solid win in the first set, 25-19. 
 
In the second set, the Hornets came out fired up and controlled the lead for most of the set, winning by a 25-29 score.
 
In the third set, the Bulldogs jumped out early and kept their foot on the gas, cruising to a 25-12 win.
 
Set four saw Big Lake rebound with solid play from Rayveen Koha-Jalla, Emma Pupeza and Haley Atwood to capture a 24-19 win, sending the match to a fifth set.
 
Big Lake jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead, before Becker turned the tables and built a two-point lead halfway through the set. Becker eventually prevailed, 15-10 to take the match.
 
Rogers 3, Becker 1
The Rogers Royals volleyball team defeated the Bulldogs in a highly contested match Monday at home. 
 
Kendal Kemp led the way with nine kills and two blocks for the Royals.
 
Rogers won the first set 25-12 and Becker rebounded to win the second by a tight score of 25-22. However, the Royals took the final two sets by 25-14 and 25-20 scores to take the match.

Tuesday, the Bulldogs host Monticello at 7 p.m., then host Mora Thursday at 7:15 p.m. They close out the week with a home tournament against the likes of Eden Valley-Watkins, Minneapolis Washburn, Nevis, Royalton, PACT, West Lutheran and Robbinsdale Cooper.
