Viking Great Chuck Foreman Visits Becker

Charlie’s Sports Bar & Grill hosted an autograph event featuring former Vikings Great Chuck Foreman recently.

Dozens of excited fans arrived Oct. 20 to meet the Vikings running back from the 70’s and have him autograph one item or buy an autographed item — such as a mini helmet, jersey or t-shirt. Foreman, who arrived wearing a walking cast which he did not attribute to his playing days, enjoyed conversation and a meal just prior to the Vikings game against the Lions.

Considered one of the best passing-catching backs in NFL history, Foreman started in three Super Bowls with the Vikings and was the premiere back for the team for most of the 1970s.

Upon entering the league in 1973, he was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, and he was selected to the Pro Bowl for the first five seasons of his career. During this time, he was also named to two first-team All-Pro teams and two second-team All-Pro teams. Nicknamed “The Spin Doctor” for his elusive running abilities, Foreman held the Vikings franchise record for rushing yards from scrimmage upon his retirement.

Chuck is a substitute teacher in Minnesota at Bloomington Kennedy High School and Valley View Middle School in Bloomington.

Charlie’s will be holding another autograph session with another former Viking — this time it will be QB Tommy Kramer. He is expected to visit Charlie’s in Becker Nov. 27 from 7- 9 p.m.

Kramer’s career spanned the 70’s to the 90’s.
