While it may not have been the results they were hoping for, the four Becker Bulldogs wrestlers competing at the State Individual Wrestling Tournament at the Xcel Energy Center last weekend gave their best, with two, Jake Nelson and Brayden Weber, coming home place winners.
Nelson was named the 5th place winner in the 126 lbs. weight class after overcoming his Perham opponent, Gabe Bellefeuille, in a decision (5-0).
Weber came in 6th in the 220 lbs. weight class after being defeated by Kaleb Haase from Redwood-River Valley in a decision (3-2).
After the Section 6AA Individual Wrestling Tournament two weeks ago, 10 Bulldogs emerged as place winners, including three champions and one runner-up.
Bulldogs wrestlers who competed at the state tournament last weekend were Ethan Anderson (113), Jake Nelson (126), Lukas Paulson (132) and Brayden Weber (220).
The Becker Bulldogs wrestling team earned second place in the Section 6AA Team Wrestling Tournament held the end of February.
