THE BECKER BULLDOG TRAP SHOOTING TEAM took advantage of “reserve week” to get in some practice at Del-Tone in preparation of week one of the season next week.

Trap Team Practices For Week 1

The Becker Bulldog trap shooting team shot for "reserve week" Monday at Del-Tone. The reserve week is used in case of a week during competition that the squad is unable to compete as a team, such as inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances during the five weeks of competition.

“The reserve week is not used in calculating season averages unless we have to use it,” said Head Coach Chris Keeler. “So, it is still beneficial to do well.”

Fortunately for the Bulldogs, the weather was perfect for outdoor competition. With the sun shining and no wind, one of Becker’s group of ladies even introduced themselves in their matching hats.

The league also announced classes and conferences at the shooting Monday. Becker is in Class 3A, Conference 5 along with North Lake Academy, Cleveland, Hibbing, Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunberg, Osseo, Park Rapids, Pelican Rapids and Willmar High Schools.

Keeler is, of course, pulling for his Becker team, but he still holds an allegiance to Osseo, since that is his alma mater.

There are 312 trap teams spanning nine classes and 40 conferences this year with 11,040 student athletes in the state — a participation record according to the Minnesota State High School Clay Target League.

Next week, Becker gets into competition for week one to see how they stack up against the other teams when the scores start to count.

“I'm sure we will rise to the occasion in Becker sports tradition,” said Keeler.
