Trap Shooters Leading Class A

The Becker High School trap team continues to lead the way in Class A, Conference 8 as of week two with 2603 points, ahead of Sebeka at 2310 and Deer River at 2306.

Week three scores are expected to be posted Saturday night when the league completes it's updates, but Head Coach Chris Keeler says he is confident after looking at his team’s individual points that they can remain at the top.

“Once again there were a number of 24/25's and the DQ treat awaits, maybe they are waiting for a warmer day even though the weather has been excellent,” he asked.

The USA High School Clay Target League (USAHSCTL) made an exciting announcement last week that they are joining forces with the Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC), the athletics governing body for Minnesota State two-year colleges, in forming a clay target league. There are 11 colleges joining the fall league, including Pine Technical and Community College where Coach Keeler teaches and will lead a new team.

“This is a great opportunity for student athletes to continue their sport through their higher education and hopefully beyond,” he said. “Clay target shooting is a lifelong activity.

Keeler also wants to continue to thank the supporters of his team and sport, including the Becker high school activities office, school administration, volunteer coaches Tom Voigt, Eric Olson, Jeff Schroeder, Gregg Hedtke, Josiah Christensen and Alayna Roske, as well as the parents that  show support every week.

“Also Jeff and the range staff at Del-Tone-Luth Gun Club that keep things running for us every week,” Keeler said.
