May 11, the Big Lake hornet boys track team traveled to Princeton to compete in a Quad meet. Cambridge-Isanti took home the yop honors with 125 points while Big Lake was second (81), Becker third (43) and Princeton fourth (21).
In the 100M, Jack Iverson took first (11.56), Joe Murphy second (11.91) and Trent Josewski third (12.04). Conner Stukenholtz came in seventh with a time of 12.97.
In the 200M, Iverson was again the fastest runner, winning the race in 23.26. Murphy was third (24.31), Wouson Nehwah was ninth (26.24) and Stukenholtz was 11th (26.46).
In the 400M, Trevor Maruska captured sixth place with a time of 61.6. He was followed by Drew Parks in 10th (64.53) and Cody Helriegel in 13th (73.88).
In the 800M, Christian Noble took first (2:06.26), David Guyse took eighth (2:27.98), Matt Denzen ninth (2:28.60), Jake Dietsch 11th (2:32.93), Zach Carlson 12th (2:32.96), Tanon Jacobson 17th (2:53.53) and Vincent Anderson 19th (2:56.08).
In the 1600M, Guyse took fifth (5:24.99), Denzen sixth (5:31.81), Dietsch seventh (5:46.10), Jacobson eighth (5:46.32) and Carlson ninth (5:51.27).
In the 3200M, Big Lake’s Owen Layton took third in a time of 10:17.94.
In the 100M hurdles, Nehwah took sixth (20.59) and Charlie Madison took seventh (20.74).
In the 300M hurdles, Zach Smith took seventh (49.45), Madison ninth (52.68) and Gauge Hoffman 10th (52.74).
In the 4x100M relay, the foursome of Josewski, Reed Bottema, Hayden thieke and Iverson took first place with a time of 45.84.
In the 4x200M relay, Stukenholtz, Hoffman, Parks and Nehwah captured third in a time of 1:46.63.
In the 4x400M relay, Murphy, Christian Noble, Bottema and Spencer Vold took first with a time of 3:41.47.
In the field events, Riley Thompson took sixth in the discus witha throw of 104’7”. He was followed by Zach Dembinski in eighth (94’2”), Austin Eccless ninth (90’9”), Luke Hugo in 11th (84’6”), Eric Peredo in 12th (82’8”), JC Sanchez 14th (81’10”), Brady Johnson 15th (79’10”), Mike Edlund in 16th (79’0”), Alec Kapsner in 18th (75’6”), Ike Howell 21st (63’11”), Anderson 23rd (62’9”) and Cody Colbert 25th (58’4”).
In shot put, Hugo took sixth (35’5’”), Howell ninth (33’6.5”), Dembinski 11th (32’3”), Eccless 13th (31’2.5”), Sanchez 14th (29’7”), Riley Thompson 18th (27”8.5”), Edlund 19th (27’8”), Colbert 20th (27’6.5”), Peredo 21st (27’1”), Anderson 22nd (26’10”), Johnson 24th (24’8.5”) and Alex Kuntz 29th (20’1”).
In the high jump, Carson Kunz took second (5’10”0 followed by Murphy in fourth (5’6”) and Nehwah sixth (5’4”).
In the triple jump, Thieke took first with a leap of 37’8”. He was followed by Wyatt Windhorst in fourth (36’1.5”), Noble in sixth (35’11.25”), Hoffman in 12th (29’9”) and Austin Brethorst in 14th (29’3.5”).
In the long jump, Iverson took first place with a jump of 21’3”. He was followed by Bottema in second (20’7”), Thieke in fifth (18’4”), Kunz in sixth (18’4”), Brethorst in 15th (13’7”), Hoffman in 16th (13’3.25”) and Kuntz 18th (11’5.25”).
In pole vault, Noble and Vold captured fourth with heights of 10’0” followed by Smith and Maruska in sixth (9’0”).
“Great effort by all,” said Head Coach Bob Blanchard. “I’m really proud of the boys who stepped up and competed in the 400 and 4x400 for the first time.”
Blanchard said he was also proud of the freshman boys for putting together a nice 4x200.
“We had five top ten all-time performances and too many PRs and SBs to get them all counted before practice. We hope to continue to improve and get better.”
