In Becker’s first match of the day, they faced off against Crookston, who has a tradition of being very well coached. Becker came ready to play and won some very close matches to come away  with the 5-2 victory over the Pirates.

 

All four singles players for Becker won thier matches while the #3 doubles team was the only duo to pull out a victory.

 

 

#1 singles: Dawson Brown (BB) win over Bobby Tiedemann (CP), 6-3, 6-4; #2 singles: Josiah Borst (BB) win over Andy Gregg (CP), 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (7-1), (7-5); #3 singles: Austin Hill (BB) win over Harrison Bjorgo (CP), 6-2, 6-2; #4 singles: Jackson Lefebvre (BB) win over Jake Wigseth (CP), 6-2, 6-0.

 

#1 doubles: Erik Tungland/C.J. Howard (BB) lose to A.J. Biermaier/Matt Garmen (CP, 3-6, 4-6; #2 doubles: Joe Gudim/Josh Duke (BB) lose to Kal Salentiny/Jacob Roesch (CP), 6-4, 3-6, (4-7); #3 doubles: Branden Roemer/Tyler Lundquist (BB) win over Adam Erickson/Elijah Phaiah (CP), 6-0, 4-6, (7-1).

 

 

In Becker’s second match of the day, they competed against Litchfield, a team Becker used to play a lot against when they were in Section 5A competition.

 

Becker prevailed easily with two-game sweeps at all singles and doubles matches.

 

 

#1 singles: Brown (BB) win over Josh Prahl (LD), 6-0, 6-0; #2 singles: Borst (BB) win over Jordan Carew (LD), 6-2, 6-0; #3 singles: Hill (BB) win over Zach Kaiser (LD), 6-2, 6-2; #4 singles: Lefebvre (BB) win over Matthew Wedin (LD), 6-2, 6-2.

 

#1 doubles: Tungland/Howard (BB) win over Jon Madsen/Andrew Fisher (LD), 6-1, 6-3; #2 doubles: Gudim/Duke (BB) win over Nick Lundin/Peyton Aller (LD), 6-1, 6-0; #3 doubles: Roemer/Lundquist (BB) win over Shaun O’Leary/Ted Nagel (LD), 6-1, 6-0.

 

 

In Becker’s final match of the day, they took on the host Alexandria team and came away with a 5-2 win.

 

All four singles players for Becker won and the #1 doubles team also took home a victory Saturday.

 

“Alexandria has some great athletes and excellent players on their team,” said Head Coach Hokan Bengtson. “We had to play really well and be mentally tough to win the matches that we did.  Austin Hill was mentally tough and finished off a great win at #3 singles.  Josiah Borst played his most complete matches of his career at #2 singles. I was very impressed with his attitude and effort as he competed.”

#1 doubles: Tungland/Howard (BB) win over Brendan Holm/Levi Duwenhogger (AC), 6-1, 7-6, (7-4); #2 doubles: Gudim/Duke (BB) lost to Payton Grandgerett/Andrew Storm (AC), 2-6, 6-3, (3-7); #3 doubles: Roemer/Lundquist (BB) lost to Jack Schneider/Graham Hogstad (AC), 6-7 (5-7), 4-6.

 

The Bulldogs had two meets cancelled this week (due to weather) and will resume play on the road next week against Sartell Tuesday and Pine City Thursday.
