Becker boys CC off to state

Last week, the Becker boys’ cross country team traveled to St. Cloud Apollo to race against 10 other Section 5AA teams.

The team crushed the competition with a final score of 43.

Tanner Felton ran an amazing final 400 meters, which secured him the section crown as the overall champion. Tanner joins the Becker legends that came before him, including Jesse Babler (1997), Ben Hubbard (1995), Charlene Hubbard (1983) and Jackie Hubbard (1982 and1981).

Alex Swanson (16:22) took sixth place with Parker Spindler (16:30) right behind him in seventh.

“These guys set the bar high for themselves and each other, and they continue to competitively support and challenge each other,” said Coach Dustin Weege.

The following runners included Evan Hubbard (17:09), Brandt Hemmelgarn (17:23), Holden Hubbard (17:59), and Mason Tschida (18:30).

The Bulldogs were grateful for the supporters and the alternates (Weston Denne, Cooper Pany, and Carson Schuste) for coming to cheer them on and keep them going. This was a season of “never-befores” with both the Becker girls and the boys cross country team holding the title in the same season.

Both teams are ready to thrive at the state meet, which is being held Nov. 1 at the UofM’s Les Bolstad Golf course in Falcon Heights.
