Tennis Team Continues To Rule Courts

The Becker Bulldog girls tennis team (11-1) participated in the Buffalo Tournament last Saturday and came home with the first place prize.
Buffalo Tournament -
Round 1
In the first round of the tournament, Becker faced off against the Mound Westonka White Hawks and came out firing on all cylinders.

Mound Westonka 2
Becker swept doubles, with Courtney Nuest and Maddie Moe also pulling out wins in singles at the two and four positions. Anna Ritchie and Julia Bengtson, one and three singles, faced formidable opponents and battled, but fell to their White Hawk opponenets.

No. 1 — Alex Welty (MWWH) defeated Anna Ritchie (BB), 6-3, 6-1; No. 2 — Courtney Nuest (BB) defeated Carter Phillips (MWWH), 6-4, 6-1; No. 3 — Kate Velander (MWWH) defeated Julia Bengtson (BB), 6-1, 6-4; No. 4 — Maddie Moe (BB) defeated Sara Funderburk (MWWH), 6-0, 6-2. 
Doubles
No. 1 — Hannah Bengtson-Megan Nelson (BB) defeated Lily Hames-Grace Prchal (MWWH), 6-2, 6-0; No. 2 — Alayna Lindquist-Jackie Yoerg (BB) defeated Lauren Burris-Grace Peterson (MWWH), 6-1, 6-1; No. 3 — Ally Kangas-Jazlyn Toedter (BB) defeated Kali Wirth-Leandra O'Connell (MWWH), 7-5, 6-7 (57), 10-6.
Buffalo Tournament -
Round 2
In the second round of the tournament, Becker faced off against Buffalo and won a very close match.
Becker 4, Buffalo 3
Ritchie played a very strong #1 singles match, but could not quite close out Anna Lee of Buffalo. Nuest, playing #2 singles, came out swinging with a commanding lead in the first set, but then fell into a rut in the second set and could not best Vanessa Blanchet. At #3 singles, Bengtson rebounded from the earlier defeat and won decisively in two sets. At #4 singles Moe continued her rock solid performance, closing out points and besting her Buffalo opponent.

No. 1 — Anna Lee (BUF) defeated Anna Ritchie (BECK), 6-2, 6-0; No. 2 — Vanessa Blanchet (BUFF) defeated Courtney Nuest (BECK), 2-6, 6-2, 10-8; No. 3 — Julia Bengtson (BECK) defeated Emma Carlson (BUFF), 6-4, 6-2; No. 4 — Maddie Moe (BECK) defeated Kiley Herbst (BUFF), 6-2, 6-3. 
Doubles
No. 1 — Hannah Bengtson-Megan Nelson (BECK) defeated Ohnica Melenich-Cassie Mcnitt (BUFF), 6-7 (47), 6-4, 11-9; No. 2 — Alayna Lindquist-Jackie Yoerg (BECK) defeated Hillary Hovland- Alaina Lee (BUFF), 6-4, 6-2; No. 3 — Nicole McHenry-Anna Ebnet (BUFF) defeated Jazlyn Toedter-Ally Kangas (BECK), 6-4, 7-6 (75).
Buffalo Tournament -
Round 3
In the third round of the tournament, Becker faced off against the Tigers of Farmington. All matches started at a 2-2 score to accelerate decisions on account of the heat.

Farmington 1
The Bulldogs decisively beat Farmington 6-1, with only three doubles coming up just short in a super tie break. The Bulldogs got wins from Ritchie, Nuest, Bengtson and Moe in singles and wins at #1 and #2 doubles.

No. 1 — Anna Ritchie (BB) defeated Ashley Renwick (FT), 6-3, 6-3; No. 2 — Courtney Nuest (BB) defeated Kami Finstad (FT), 6-2, 6-2; No. 3 — Julia Bengtson (BB) defeated Kailey Felch (FT), 6-3, 6-2; No. 4 — Maddie Moe (BB) defeated Katie Rowe (FT), 6-3, 6-2. 
Doubles
No. 1 — Hannah Bengtson-Megan Nelson (BB) defeated Hailey Karnowski-Rose Bauer (FT), 7-6 (72), 6-2; No. 2 — Alayna Lindquist-Jackie Yoerg (BB) defeated Abbie Clayton-Sophia Stokes (FT), 6-3, 6-3; No. 3 — Noel Mara-Sydney Hubbard (FT) defeated Ally Kangas-Jazlyn Toedter (BB), 7-6 (86), 2-6, 10-6.
The tournament also made the four doubles a point position for the team trophy where the bulldogs went undefeated on the day. Hailey Uecker, Shaylyn Quernemoen and Halle Murphy switching in and out to make those victories possible.
Becker 7, Pierz 0
The Bulldogs continued their fantastic start to the season, whalloping the Pierz Pioneers Tuesday night at home.

No. 1 — Anna Ritchie (BB) defeated Becky Langer (PP), 6-3, 6-1; No. 2 — Courtney Nuest (BB) defeated Val Gall (PP), 6-3, 6-3; No. 3 — Julia Bengtson (BB) defeated Mariah Kirschbaum (PP), 7-6 (86), 6-2; No. 4 — Maddie Moe (BB) defeated Maddie Andrea (PP), 6-4, 6-1. 
Doubles
No. 1 — Hannah Bengtson-Megan Nelson (BB) defeated Laura Skiba-Abby Andrea (PP), 6-0, 6-1; No. 2 — Alayna Lindquist-Jackie Yoerg (BB) defeated Kalyn Girtzmacher-Katelyn Smude (PP), 6-3, 6-2; No. 3 — Ally Kangas-Jazlyn Toedter (BB) defeated Kami Athman-Halle Zupan (PP), 6-1, 6-4.
Up Next
The Bulldogs (11-1) traveled to Pine City Thursday before returning to home courts to play Little Falls Tuesday.
