Two area Technical High School students are part of the Tigerettes dance team, which is headed to state competition later this month after placing 2nd in both jazz and kick at sections last weekend. Clearwater’s Malea Miller and Clear Lake’s Amber Kirchoff are part of both the jazz and kick teams.
Although the season had been going well for the team, they knew they were going to have to work hard to qualify for state.
“Our jazz team has been doing better all year,” said Miller. “But our kick team had to kick into gear and really work hard.”
Because the team moved from Section 4AAA to 4AA this year, they were hoping to do well, but felt the best they would do was to possibly make 3rd, so it was a great surprise to the team when they placed 2nd.
The athletes are now preparing to dance their best at state competition.
“We’re going to work hard, try to final, and do the best we can,” said Miller. “But every other team will be doing that, too.”
The Tigerettes dance team will be competing at state competition Feb 14-15 at the Target Center in Minneapolis.
