Swimmers/Divers Getting Better Each Week

The Becker Bulldog swim and dive teams participated in two meets this week, losing to both Big Lake and Little Falls.

Tuesday, the girls continued to swim well individually and more girls qualified for sections including: Kamryn Gass in the 200M freestyle, Emily Lipinski in the 200 IM, Melody Swanson in the 100M freestyle, Jalissa Johnson in the 100M freestyle and Sophie Diaz in the 500M freestyle.

The highlight of the week was when diver Emi Quill broke her own school record Thursday in Little Falls with a score of 244.45.

“There are many girls still within very few seconds away from achieving the section time for their event and I am certain they will reach that goal soon,” said Head Coach Tina Tamm.

“Becker’s seventh and eighth grade girls continue to improve each day and all the girls are practicing hard and swimming hard at the meets,” she said.

Tamm is sure the wins will come since many of the races are closely-contested.

“Many of the races are very close and we are losing out by the finishing touch,” she said.  “We will continue to work on that at practice and hopefully start taking those wins away from the other team and getting them for ourselves.”
