Swim & Dive Team Adds Section Qualifiers

After two home meets this week, the Becker Bulldogs Swim & Dive team added 11 more qualifiers to their roster of athletes headed to the upcoming section meet, bringing their total number of qualifiers to 26.

Tuesday the team competed against Albany, adding eight more swimmers and divers to the Bulldogs’ list of athletes headed to the section meet.

“We always have great races when we swim against Albany,” said Coach Tina Tamm. “It makes for a fun evening of swimming.”

During the meet Kadance Cox qualified for sections in the 50 free, Chloe McDonald for the 500 free, Sophie Studer for the 100 butterfly, Nev Baune in the 100 free, Ryann Pitts for the 100 fly, and Theresa Johnson, Emma Hennessey and Bella Kuschel for diving.

Thursday saw the Bulldogs once again at their home pool, competing against swimmers and divers from Monticello.

“Monticello has always been a tough team,” said Tamm. “Swimming against them helps our girls get personal best times.”

During the meet Nev Baune and Morgan Schrader dropped eight seconds from their times in the 200 freestyle, and Delaney Varney dropped two seconds in the 100 butterfly.

The Bulldogs also added three more section qualifiers: Kadance Cox and Rain Friedman in the 100 free, and Sophie Diaz in the 500 free.

The Bulldogs Swim & Dive team’s next competition is the True Team meet Oct. 12.
