Sports teams buzzing

The Big Lake Hornets sports teams’ seasons are in full swing. Below are captures of their games in the past week.

Girls BB

The Hornets improved to 4-2 with wins over Monticello (56-23 on Jan. 22) and North Branch (66-36 on Jan. 29) while losing to Becker (93-39 on Jan. 26) and Cambridge-Isanti (55-45 on Feb. 2).

Boys BB

The Hornet boys also went 2-2 this past week, beating Monticello (66-50 on Jan. 22) and North Branch (88-86 on Jan. 29) while losing to Becker (83-78 on Jan. 26) and Cambridge-Isanti (64-41 on Feb. 2). In the North Branch game, Jack Iverson scored a school record 47 points in the win.

Hockey

The Becker/Big Lake Hockey squad dropped to 1-4 on the season with a loss to North Branch (8-2 on Jan. 21), a loss to Pine City (6-3 on Jan. 28) and a loss to Princeton (4-2 on Jan. 30).

Dance

The Big Lake varsity dance team participated in a  six-team meet (Becker, Chisago Lakes, Monticello, St. Francis, North Branch)at North Branch Jan. 23. No results were reported by press time. They followed that up with a meet two days later at Monticello where the same teams competed. No results were reported by press time. Monday, Feb. 1 the same teams gathered at Big Lake for their third competition in two weeks. No results were reported by press time.
