Soltau, Bulldogs dominate Falcons, 43-0

The Becker Bulldog football team completed their regular season schedule with a 43-0 whipping of Foley last Wednesday on the road.

The win gave Becker a perfect record of 8-0 heading into the playoffs.

The Bulldogs dominated their season finale in all aspects of the game, amassing 301 total yards on offense and limiting the Falcons to just 142 on defense as well as keeping the scoreboard clean. Zach Bengtson had another spectacular day behind center as he finished the game with 197 yards through the air on 10 completions in 18 attempts and three TDs.

Bengtson got the team rolling early in the first quarter when he found Kyan Blomquist from two yards out to put the visiting team up 7-0. A little while later, it was Bengtson finding Mitchel Soltau from 47 yards out to put the Bulldogs up by double digits.

In the second quarter, it was more Bulldog prowress as Isaiah Gardner scored on a five yard scamper to put the Bulldogs up 21-0. The first half climaxed with Bengtson finding Soltau from seven yards out to put the ‘Dogs up 28-0.

The Bulldogs took the pedal off the metal slightly in the second half, yet they still scored twice to put the game out of reach. Grayson Kipka pulled down a three yard pass from Bengtson in the third quarter to put Becker up 35-0 before Chase Stupar capped off the win with an 11-yard blast to the end zone top make it 41-0. A successful two-point conversion put the final score at 43-0 for the Bulldogs.

Owen Angell led the running game with 42 yards on four carries. Soltau had a fantastic game, reeling in four catches for 142 yards and two touchdowns to lead the receiving squad.

On defense, everyone helped keep the Falcons at bay especially Cody Klatt, who notched six tackles and two tackles for loss. John Boecker had five tackles, one assist, one sack and one tackle for loss. Kaden Nicolas recoverd a fumble and Isaac Daluge had an interception in the rout.

The Bulldogs are slated to play Saturday at home against Princeton in the first round of the playoffs. Gametime is 1 p.m.
