School Record Shattered At Pillager

The Becker Bulldog boys track team traveled to Pierz last Friday and Pillager Thursday, taking first and second places. Pierz Invitational The Becker boys earned their fourth win in five tries by scoring 92 points to win the Pierz meet. Upsala/Swanville was second with 48 and Pierz third with 45.
 
Leading the way for Becker was Austin Hemmelgarn, who won the 100 meters with a time of 11.51 and the 200M with a time of 23.57. 
 
Kevin Andres won the 400M with a time of 52.68 and Matt Davalos finished first with a personal best time of 43.39 in the same race.  
 
David Myres took first place in the 110M hurdles with a personal best time of 17.23.  
 
“All these guys are starting to really run well for the Bulldogs and their times continue to improve,” said Head Coach Paul Schmidt.
 
On the field event side. Dawson Thom took first place in the shot put with a 43'11" toss and second place in the disc with a throw of 110' 9". Ryan Nohner and Nick Radunz picked up a third and fourth in the shot and disc.  
 
Brady Scheeley won the triple jump with a leap of 39'-2.75" and Ethan Holm was second with a jump of 37'-9.75".
 
Becker’s 4x200M relay team of Cody Johnson, Matt Davalos, Kevin Andres and Austin Hemmelgarn took first place as did the 4x400M team of Davalos, Andres, Chris Rothfork and Justin Kringler.   
 
Kringle also was part of the winning 4x800 meter relay team along with Jacob Nelson, John Novak and Mason Makarrall.
 
Reimer Invitational
Thursday, the boys hit the road for Pillager to participate in the annual John Reimer Invitational and finished second to Holdingford.
 
Becker’s  4x800M team of Novak, Makarrall, Kringler and Ricker broke the school record by five seconds with a time of 8:34.
 
Matt Davalos also broke the school record in the 300M intermediate hurdles with a time of 41.73.
 
Makarrall had a night of personal bests with being part of the 4x800M team and  he also ran a personal best in the 800M with a time of 2:03.1. He was also  part of the winning 4x400M relay team along with Andres, Davalos and Jordan Gruenes, who ran a personal best time of 3:33.76.
 
Andres finished with a first place finish in the 400M with a time of 51.84 and was also part of the winning 4x200M relay team along with Davalos, Gruenes and Hemmelgarn in a time of 1:33.97.
 
Hemmelgarn finished second in the 100M with a time of 11.58 and second in the 200M with a time of 23.42.
 
Holm had a great day for the Bulldogs with three personal bests in the triple jump (39'-9.25"), the long jump (17'-6.5") and the pole vault (9'6").
 
Scheeley finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 41'-4.5" and fifth in the long jump with a jump of 18'-9.5".  Scheeley and Holm were also part of the 4x100M team with Michael Bloss and Cody Johnson who took fifth place with a time of 48.05.
 
Ricker followed up his 4x800M record-setting performance by winning the mile in a time of 4:45.40. Novak finished fourth with a time of 5:08.94 and Noah Fakhreddine finished sixth with 5:11.72. 
 
In the 3200M, it was Luke Pappenfus earning a fifth place finish with a time of 11:02 and Lachlan Lahr placing eighth with a time of 12:09.
 
In the shot put and disc events, Thom continues to lead Becker with a fourth place finish in the shot ( 42' 10") and a fifth in disc at 116'11". Nick Radunz captured sixth in the disc at 109'.
