Sanford secures Top 10 finish

The Big Lake boys’ golf team competed in three meets last week. The standout performance of the week was Josiah Sanford’s T-7 finish on Monday at Elk River Golf Club.

Trevor Stukenholtz scored a team-best 80 last Thursday at Chisago Lakes Golf Course, which was good enough for a 12th place finish. Other scores for the Hornets were Josiah Sanford-92 (41st), Tucker Thomas-98 (46th), Henry Overby-104 (52nd), Gavin Void-105 (53rd), and Caelin McConville-111 (54th). 

On Monday, Sanford’s 78 was the low scorer for the team and Stukenholtz had a score of 86 for a 27th place finish. Other scores were Branson Gray-89 (32nd), Overby-94 (42nd), Tucker Thomas-102 (52nd), and Chase Erickson-106 (53rd). 

The team finished eighth with a combined score of 347.

Big Lake travelled to Rush City on Monday for a Mississippi 8 Conference meet at Bulrush Golf Club. Stukenholtz was the low scorer for the team shooting an 87 which landed him in 29th place overall. Josiah Sanford scored 92 (33rd), Branson Gray shot 94 (37th), and Caelin McConville shot a 114 (52nd). 

This week the team will travel to Grand National Golf Club in Hinckley on Friday and The Links at Northfork in Ramsey next Monday.
