Jacob Lauermann was dominant on the hill, as the righty rang up 11 strikeouts in the Clear Lake Rivercats 19u’s 11-1 victory over OMGAA Storm 19U Orange on Monday. Lauermann surrendered three hits and one run over six innings while walking four.
The Rivercats jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Lauermann drew a walk which scored one run, Garrett Schindele grounded out, scoring another run and Caleb Guzek grounded out, scoring two runs.
An error later extended the Rivercats lead to 5-0 in the bottom of the second inning.
The Rivercats added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Dylan Norton doubled to center field and John Phillips grounded out, each scoring one run.
Tamden Kirvan took the loss for OMGAA. The starter went one inning, giving up four runs on three hits, striking out one and walking three.
The Rivercats piled up 10 hits in the game. Guzek, Sebastian Layer, and Sam Carper each collected two hits for Rivercats. Sebastian Layer led the Cats with three RBIs going two-for-four on the day. Jack Gagliardi paced the Rivercats with two walks.
The team tallied seven walks for the game. Sebastian Layer stole two bases. The Rivercats stole four bases in the game and turned one double play in the game.
Ben Burns went two-for-two at the plate to lead OMGAA in hits.
