Quill Captures First On Senior Night

 
The Becker Bulldog girls gymnastics team hosted Maple Lake Thursday, celebrating families and seniors.
 
In their last home meet of the season, Kayla Kalinowski’s girls showed excitement to be back in their  own home gym. The girls brought a ton of energy to and were able to have a fantastic meet and new season high score of 138.9.  
 
Vault Exercise
 
The teams started the meet on vault where Becker had a fantastic start.  Theresa Johnson started the home team off with a great vault, and a strong effort with new energy.  Katie Wilke was able to show off her vault she has been working hard on.  Lauren Woelfel stuck her vault, displaying one of the best vaults she has done all season.  Riley Norberg also hit one of her best vaults of the season for a second place finish with a 9.3.
 
Bars Exercise
 
Bars continues to improve every meet for the Bulldogs, who are “over-the-top’ excited about the progress they have made.  Woelfel had a great routine. Her sister Sarah hit a gorgeous routine for a second place finish and a season high 8.55. Emi Quill closed out the rotation with a great routine and hit her upgraded dismount for a third place finish.  
 
Beam Exercise
 
Beam was one of the best sets Kalinowski has seen her girls put together all season. 
 
Wilke hit an amazing routine in the second up spot for a season high 8.95, good for a second place finish.  Quill also hit a great routine for an 8.55.  Lauren Woelfel performed a beautifully connected routine for a third place 8.6.  
 
Floor Exercise
 
Floor was a highlight for this meet for the Lady Bulldogs.  
 
“The girls have been working hard on having fun and showing off their routines and it showed this meet,” said Kalinowski.
 
Wilke added a new pass to her routine and continued to improve for an 8.5, fifth place finish.  Sarah Woelfel hit another fun and exciting routine for a season high 8.925, good for fourth place. Norberg had her best routine of the season and was rewarded with a season high 9.05 and third place.  Quill ended her senior night with a fantastic routine and season high score of 9.375 for a first place finish.  
 
“Overall, this was by far our best meet of the season,” said Becker’s head coach. “As we are inching closer and closer to our post-season meets, we are excited to see the girls getting better with every meet.”

The girls head to compete with St. Cloud Tech Monday, then head to Howard Lake-Waverly-Winstead/Holy Trinity Tuesday.
