The Becker Bulldogs girls swim and dive team competed against Ogilvie/Mora Thursday at home.
It was a close meet with very good races.
In diving, Emi Quill did it again as she broke her own school record and set a new pool record with a score of 245.05.
In swimming, Becker had a lot of improved times and Head Coach Tina Tamm could tell her swimmers and divers competed differently in front of thier throng of fans.
“Our girls really like to swim in ‘their’ pool,” said Tamm. “They always swim better at home.”
Kamryn Gass improved her time in the 200M free freestyle by 1.5 seconds. Allison Sanderson knocked six seconds off her time in the same race and another six seconds in the 500M freestyle.
Jalissa Johnson swam well in the 500M freestyle, shaving off five seconds of her previous best. Kyla Henkemeyer improved by one second in the same race.
Arleigh Pudlick whittled away 1.5 seconds from her previous best in the 100M backstroke. Alana Berger knocked two seconds off her 100M breaststroke time and Avery Tamm had a great 100M breaststroke event, shaving 1.5 seconds off her previous best.
Sarah Woelfel received her highest score with a 201.85 in diving and Emi Quill broke her own school record (from last week) and set a new pool record with a score of 245.05.
Becker’s foreign exchange swimmer, Zoë Liewen, swam her first race with the team Thursday. She swam the 50M freestyle and the first leg of the 200M freestyle relay. While she was very nervous before her races, Tamm’s girls helped to calm her down by gathering around her, talking with her and reassuring her.
“She kept up with the rest of the swimmers, just being touched out of fourth place by two-tenths of a second,” said Tamm. “It is great to have her as part of our team. She is fitting in perfectly with the girls and seems to be having fun learning the ins-and-outs of swimming.”
