Junior Cheyenne Piccolo led the Becker girls golf team with an 89 and helped lead her squad to a six-team invitational win at Pebble Creek Tuesday.

Piccolo’s score was four shots better than the second place players (Macy Erson of Becker and Anna Faeber of Cathedral) and the win is Piccolo’s first of her high school career.

Rachel Vogl finished with a 100 and Aly Fisher a 102.

“It was a good day and we are very happy to start the conference season off in first place,” said Head Coach Steve Whittaker.

Albany Invite

Thursday, the girls traveled to Albany to participate in the six-team nine-hole invitational and came home with the first place title for the second event in a row.

“Conditions couldn't have been much tougher in the cold and rain,” said Whittaker. “I was very happy the way we stayed focused and continue to shoot under 200 no matter what the conditions.”

Becker finished with a team score of 192 with Senior Ashley Neuwirth leading the Lady Bulldogs with a 45. Cathedral finished second, just one point away for Becker.

Neuwirth’s 45 was good enough to place third overall. Piccolo shot a 48, Fisher a 49 and Vogl a 50.

“We are in first place in the conference standings so far this season and we are working hard to stay there,” said Whittaker.

The girls hit the road Monday to play at Mora then journey to Stones Throw Golf Course in Milaca to take on the Wolves Wednesday morning.
