Golfers representing Pebble Creek won the 16 Man, B-Division State Match Play Championship with a 13.5-10.5 victory over Brookview held at Columbia Golf Club last Sunday.
The 16 Man golf is a yearlong match play event from the MPGA where two clubs take 16 players to make eight two-person teams. Each team then plays against another team from the other club, scoring one point for securing the most holes with the lowest gross score on the first nine, one point for the second nine and one point for the team who has the most holes won on the overall 18.
With eight teams with three possible points per match there is a total of 24 points to be won.
Pebble Creek had previously defeated Pheasant Acres and Baker National in a pair of home-and-home matches to make it to the championship. This is Pebble Creek’s third championship in the past eight years.
Members this season for the team were Lonnie Fluck, Jax Fluck, Nick Pittman, Alex Stanz, Zach Stanz, Dave Stanz, Jerry Vetsch, Tony Wernsing, Ryan Isaacson, Ted Crowe, Eric Ghodes, Josh May, Joe Cox, Josh Kuha, Dustin Kantorowitz, John Dinsmore, Ray Sauer, Joe Sauer, Dave Landreville, Greg Mattson, Pat Utz, Austin Seavert, Curt Renslow, Dan Olson, Barry Quernemoen and Steve Whittaker.
