Pebble Creek Dedicates Memorial To Members And Significant Contributors

Last Saturday, about twenty golf players gathered to hear Ted Crowe, President of MN Limited, give a speech to honor individuals who were members of the golf club for more than three years or who made a significant contribution in some way to the golf course.

The following people were named: Don Herfort (2011), Ivan Paulsen (2011), Conway Thompson (2015),  Tim Wojciak (2017), Stanley “Corky” Bernard (2018), Steve Mount (2013), Ron Bodem (2015), Merwin Barth (2015), John Shortridge (2001), Sandy Dolan (2012), Shayne Isaacson (2013), Carlo Ramsey (2018), James Hadac (2011), Tom Cotton (2017), Fred Doering (2018), and Vivian Doering (2013).

The first director of golf at the Pebble Greek Golf Course and the course architect were also among the ones included.

Ted has been a member of the men’s golf club for fourteen years. He said the men’s club had been wanting to find a way to give thanks to those who have passed away but couldn’t come up with a good enough idea. They tried planting trees in the past but found out quickly that it was hard to keep track of the trees and there was nowhere to list names.

“It didn’t feel sufficient,” said Ted Crowe.

Therefore, this year the men’s club searched online to find a more significant way to pay tribute.

When they came across the idea to create a pedestal on the golf course, the men’s club brought it to the Pebble Creek Golf Board and it was immediately accepted.

MN Limited is an oil and gas company with their headquarters in Big Lake. They handle oil and gas pipeline construction all over the country. Crowe had a special team use the spare parts from other projects to create the pedestal. Crowe’s team manufactured the pedestal on their extra time and then came to the golf course to install it. It is eight feet below the ground and secured properly. Engravers were hired to etch the names on the plaques.

Mike Doren contacted everyone’s family to get names and more information about each member to be included.

The memorial is located by the first tee on the golf course, and this spot was chosen strategically.

“It was very important that everyone drive by it every time they come to play,” explained Ted.

Moving forward, people which others feel ought to be included in the memorial pedestal can be suggested to the Pebble Creek Men’s Club or Women’s Club Board of Directors for due consideration.

MN Limited is involved in a lot of local community work such as participating in food shelf and Toys for Tots drives, hosting tournaments for charities, and even made and donated the flag poles on the golf course in 2015.
