The Becker Area Chamber of Commerce had a fantastic time hosting the 2nd Annual Mulligan’s Island Golf Tournament at Pebble Creek Golf Course Aug. 19.
It was a sell-out event and the 90 degree day added to the “island theme”. Some teams donned tropical attire while some just wore comfortable clothes or shirts and hats depicting their company names.
The Local 9 course was set up “tropically” and had fun games and contests on the holes. One of the prizes was a chance to win a “theme cart” for the day that had colored leis and fringe and many amentities donated by Aflac. Each golfer in the tournament received a bag of goodies donated by area merchants and supporters of the Becker Chamber.
The shotgun start commenced at 3 p.m.
On one hole, Lonnie Fluck and Austin Seavert represented Fluck’s business, Cross Talent Solutions, dressed as the Skipper and Gilligan from Gilligan’s Island. Seavert provided an opportunity for teams to cash in on his golf skills (Seavert was a BHS star on the golf team) as he would provide the drive from the tee box for a donation to the Chamber of $5. Lonnie and Austin were able to donate the $141.00 they raised for Austin’s drives.
After the golf, guests were invited to the event room for a delicious dinner and silent auction. There were raffle drawings and live music by fan favorite, Joe Perry.
Chamber members would like to send a big thank you to the sponsors from the Becker Chamber and the many donations made by local businesses that helped make this event a huge success.
