Layla Mathews continues to impress for the Becker girls golf team, as she placed first last week in a meet at the Monticello Country Club by firing a round of 73.
“She is neck and neck with Chisago Lakes’ Kali Hanson for claiming the M8 medalist title,” Coach Anna Babler said. “It will come down to this week’s meet in Cambridge at Purple Hawk.”
At the Monticello meet, Emelia Strong and Gracie Conzemius came in tied for 13th place with scores of 96, while Piper Dickinson was one stroke behind and finished 16th.
“As a team we are hanging on to second in the conference,” Babler added.
Next week, Becker will be in Park Rapids for the 8AAA Section tournament.
“We are hoping to have at least one golfer that can advance to state for the second year in a row,” Babler said.
