Once again Becker girls golfer Layla Mathews is headed to the MSHSL State Golf Meet after a stellar performance at the Section 8AAA tournament.

Mathews finished in second place overall, just two strokes off the lead. as she fired a round of 159 at the Headwaters Course.

As a team, Becker finished in eighth place and while the Bulldogs’ squad did not advance to the second day (Section finals), both Mathews and Piper Dickinson made the final day cut and participated on the second day.

With Mathews’ great finish, she will advance to the state tournament being held at Bunker Hills on June 10 and 11.
