It was the Layla Mathews show at last week’s Mississippi 8 Conference girls golf match in St. Francis, as the Becker senior fired a 78 to better the pack by 10 strokes.

“It was a cold, wet round of golf,” Coach Anna Babler said.  “Layla played a fantastic round shooting a 78 and finishing in first place.”

As a team, the Bulldogs finished in third place, behind North Branch and Monticello.

Piper Dickinson placed 14th at the meet with a round of 102, followed by Gracie Conzemius, Sydney Dunderi, Addy Cohen and Brynn Hillesheim.

The Bulldogs had Monday’s meet postponed due to weather this week, while they will also play in Elk River.  The team will be busy with two conference meets this week, in addition to the St. Cloud Country Club meet and Headwaters in Park Rapids.
