Lukkarila, Gruenhagen Star At Sub Sections

The Becker boys tennis team played in the singles/doubles tournament  Monday in Becker. 
 
Two singles players and two doubles teams competed. Jacob Lukkarila was sub-section champion for the second straight season.  He entered the section championships Friday as the #1 seed from the south half.  
 
Brady Gruenhagen placed third in the sub-section, with a terrific come-from behind win in the third place match. He was losing 5-1 in the third set but stormed back to win 7-5!
 
These two have had a magnificent season, combined on the season in singles their record is 47-2.
 
Willmar 4, Becker 3
 
The boys played against Willmar last Saturday but lost by one. 
 
It was a terrific match. They ended up losing 4-3 in a great battle with a quality opponent.  Becker had solid play from every spot in the line-up. 
 
Their two seventh graders played great in the No.2 doubles, winning 6-0 and 6-2.
 
“I was really proud of the way guys stepped up and competed on a big stage,” said Head Coach Hokan Bengtson.   “Especially No.1 and No.2 singles beating very good opponents.”
