Lahr Named Nsic Athlete Of The Week

Luke Lahr, a BHS 2015 graduate, captured his first collegiate individual title at last Saturday's Ron Pynn Classic and has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week.

Lahr is the first UMD Bulldog to be so honored since current senior Isaac Overmyer was a two-time recipient in 2016 (Sept. 20 and Oct. 11).

Lahr, a senior team captain out of Clear Lake, posted a career-best 8,000-meter time of 25:03.9 in windy conditions to top the 71-runner field at the Grand Forks event. That included 20 individuals from the NCAA ranks.

Lahr and the Bulldogs placed among seven schools in the team competition.

Lahr, who didn’t get involved in tack and CC until his junior year in high school, was a four-time letter winner in cross country while at Becker and a two-time letter winner in track. He made state in 2014 for cross country and in 2015 for track in the 1600M and 3200M.

Lahr is studying engineering and his favorite college courses are statics and mechanics.
