Lady Bulldogs take third at Pierz

The Becker girls track & field team competed last Thursday with four other teams at Pierz

The total scores were: Pierz 88.5, Holdingford 68, Becker 67.5 and Zimmerman 48.

Becker started out the running events with the 4x800.  The foursome of Meghan Swanson, Katelyn Brower, Kayla Gruenes and Lexi Rose took first place (11:21.7) and Becker’s second team of Alea Briggs, Brooklyn Karel, Olivia Babler and Whitney Schug were second (1142.6), but could not earn points because teams were only allowed to score just one team.

The 100 meter hurdlers had a good day with three girls earning points. Regan Hausmann came in second (18.43), Lauren Woelfel fourth (18.65) and Sarah Woelfel fifth (18.67).

Cassidy Pleoger continues to excel in the 100 meters, taking first with a season best time of 13.36.  Pleoger also  ran an outstanding anchor leg as part of the winning  4x100 relay team along with Jessica Gruenes, Lauren Woelfel and Sarah Woelfel. This team ran a season best time of 56.21.

In the 1600 meters, Becker took the top three spots. Meghan Swanson ran 5:58.22, Lexi Rose ran 6:00.22 and Brooklyn Karel ran 6:02.66 for her PR time.

Kayla Gruenes ran a gutsy race and placed second in the 800M with a time of 2:47.21.  Olivia Babler ran a PR time of 13:31.41 in the 3200 meters for third place.  

Becker got a pair of fourth place finishes in the 400 from Alea Briggs (71.84) and Regan Hausmann in the 300 hurdles (54.73).

Anna Briggs placed third in the shot put (26’ 9”).  In the discus, Evelyn Kreft took first with a PR of 96’ 6” and Grace Schendel fourth (78’ 2”).

Lauren Woelfel again took home first place in the pole vault with a vault of 8’, and Tessa Maruska placed fourth with 7’.

Becker’s next meet will be at home Tuesday with the boys competing at 3:30 p.m. and the girls competing at 6:30 p.m.
