Lady Bulldogs finish fifth at True Team meet

The Becker Bulldog girls track team competed in the True Team Section Championship meet last Tuesday, May 10.  The meet was held at Rocori high school.  

True Team is a concept that celebrates the entire team.  Each person scores based on their finish position and that way the winning team truly has a ‘team’ effort. The team winner goes on to compete at the State True Team meet.

The Bulldogs had a good day with nine personal best marks and two season best relays.

Team scores were:  Rocori 684.5, Eden VAlley-Watkins/Kimball 567, Foley 487, St Cloud Cathedral 425.5, Becker 431, Spectrum 425.5, Annandale 395, Milaca 385.5, St Cloud Apollo 356, Zimmerman 322, Princeton 286, Big Lake 284.5.

Top finishers for Becker were Lexi Rose, earning a PR time of 5:23.56 in the 1600 for second place., and Ella McDonald running 11:43.00 in the 3200 meters for second place. 

“Both girls ran well against excellent competition and show great determination,” said Becker Head Coach Trish Kealy.  

Also running well in these two races were Brooklyn Karel, placing seventh with a PR time of 5:33.29 and Olivia Babler in the 3200 placing ninth in 12:38.30.

Lauren Woelfel was third in the Pole Vault with a height of 9’3” and Sarah Woelfel was ninth in the High Jump with 4’8”.

“We had some good hurdle results as well,” said Kealy.  

Sarah Woelfel ran her best ever 100 meter hurdle race, placing fifth overall with her PR time of 16.65  — which also enters her on the MSHSL honor roll in that event.  Regan Hausmann took seventh place in the 300 hurdles with her PR time of 49.98. 

“We were excited to go under 50 for that event,” said Kealy.  

Kailey Thompson placed ninth with a time of 51.48.

Other athletes earning PR marks were Paige Maunu (13.73) and Raelee Lyon (14.09) in the 100, Kylee Morton (28.63) in the 200, and Kayla Paulson (15’10 1/2”) in shot and (40’ 3”) discus..

Becker’s 4X800 relay team of Lexi Rose, Alea Briggs, Abby Atwood and Ella McDonald ran 10:18.87 for third.  The team of Sarah Woelfel, Raelee Lyon, Olivia Maunu, Paige Maunu ran a season best time of 54.20.

The 4X400 team of Kailey Thompson, Lexi Rose, Brooklyn Karel, Alea Briggs ran a season best time of 4:20.84.

Next week finds the Bulldogs in Monticello on Tuesday for the first annual twilight meet. Then on Thursday, Becker hosts the Mississippi 8 JV Conference meet.
