The Becker Lady Bulldog girls basketball team closed out their regular season with a convincing win over Princeton on the road last Friday night.
The final score was 87-64.
The Bulldogs dominated the first half, scoring 57 points to just 28 for the Tigers. The Becker girls took their foot off the accelerator a little in the second half, but still came away with the win by 23.
Adeline Kent was in the spotlight Friday as she scored 15 points, including her 1,000th point — and she is only a sophomore! She also had four assists, seven rebounds, one steal and one blocked shot.
Julia Bengtson was spectacular as well as she poured in 17 points while dishing out seven assists and pulling down four rebounds. She also had four steals and one blocked shot.
Princeton was led by Maddie James who had 27 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and one blocked shot. She got help from Lauren Bjurman, who had 22 points, 10 rebounds, two steals and four blocked shots.
Becker’s field goal percentage was 52% compared to Princeton’s 42%. The Bulldogs made 11-of-21 three-pointers while the Tigers managed just four-of-19.
“We out-rebounded a taller team 38-31 which was incredible,” said Head Coach Dan Baird. “Maddie James had a nice game for Princeton.”

The Bulldogs (24-2) are seeded #1 in the Section 5AAA tournament and will play Willmar today (Saturday) in Buffalo at 6 p.m. in the quarterfinals. Willmar is 17-10 and Becker edged them in a close game earlier in the season by a score of 65-56. Willmar was ranked #1 last season when Becker upset them in the finals, 56-36. Thursday is the section finals in Buffalo.
