Lady Bulldogs Basketball Faced Tough Competition This Week

Thursday, the Becker Lady Bulldogs worked hard and defeated the Monticello Magic on Senior Night in Becker. 
 
Becker seniors turned up the heat and showcased their skills on the court. Haley Benda connected on four three pointers, totaling 16 points, while Madi Kerzman showed some nice post moves, adding 11 points of her own. 
 
Renee Tripp played powerful defense and scored eight points. Julia Bengtson strengthened the team by running the show with assists and 15 points of her own. 
 
Becker impressively doubled down on Monticello’s excellent post players, making it challenging for them at various times during the game. 
 
Yet, that didn’t stop the Magic from giving it their all. Anna Olson still scored 13 points for the Magic team and Cat Terres added 12. Lauran Zwack penetrated well and shot nine points from the point guard position. 
 
The final score was Becker 65, Monticello 44. This moves Becker to 13-12 on the season while the Magic fall to 6-19 on the season. Becker played their season finale Friday at Foley with Princess (the Granite Ridge Traveling Trophy) on the line.

Cathedral 62, Becker 54 
Tuesday, the Becker Lady Bulldogs lost another heartbreaking game in overtime to St. Cloud Cathedral in Becker. 
 
The Cathedral players brought on a tough game on the court with great defense and steals. However, the Becker girls stayed persistent and played well as a team to get points on the board. 
 
The crowd watched the players eagerly each time the ball was stolen and then recovered, while some throws made right before the clock timed out inched close to the net. 
 
Becker was led in scoring by Courtney Nuest’s 23 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Julia Bengtson added 17 points to go with five rebounds and two assists. Alayna Lindquist demonstrated a fierce all-around game with six points, five rebounds, and five steals. 
 
Megan Voit was the leading scorer for Cathedral with 20 points, connecting on four three-pointers. Meg Januschka scored 17 points and proved herself to be integral to Cathedral attacking the basket in overtime.
 
Becker fell to 12-12 on the season and 8-5 in the Granite Ridge Conference. Cathedral improved to 10-3 in the Granite Ridge and 19-6 overall.
