Lacrosse Team Loses To Undefeated Chargers, 12 11

The Becker boys lacrosse team lost their final home regular season game to the Duluth Chargers Tuesday, 12-11 in overtime.

The Chargers are ranked #1 in the state.
 
For the first time all season, someone other than Tyler Kruse led the Bulldogs in scoring. Milan Kent tallied six points on five goals and one assist while firing 10 shots on goal.
 
Kruse finished with two goals on 11 shots.
 
Goalkeeper Dana Slominski had 11 saves on 23 shots.
 
The Chargers (13-0) came into the contest undefeated while Becker had just one defeat in 11 games. 
 
Becker (9-2) jumped out to a quick lead in the first quarter, scoring five goals to Duluth’s two. The tables turned in the second when the Chargers scored four goals to Becker’s one to tie the score at 6-6 heading into halftime.
 
Becker drew first blood to start the third and held an 8-6 lead going into the fourth quarter, however they couldn’t hold the lead and surrendered five goals to their three to end regulation knotted at 11.
 
The Chargers capped off the come-from-behind win with a goal in the extra session to retain their unblemished record.
 
Duluth’s Brody Carlson had four goals in the win along with one assist on 11 shots on goal.
 
Mitchell Pelkey had 21 saves on 32 shots to get the decision in goal.
 
Becker’s first playoff game is Saturday at Irondale High School against Grand Rapids at 8 p.m. Becker is seeded #3 out of eight playoff teams.
